"Myrtle Minerva Bowley, daughter of Mary Elizabeth Weaver and Norton Amsberry, was born at Ansley, Nebraska on July 16th, 1893. She passed from this life December 16th, 1970 at the age of 77 years, 5 months. She spent her girlhood days in and near Ansley, Nebraska, attending Kearney State Teachers College, also taught in several rural schools in Custer County. While teaching at New Hope School north of Merna, she met and married John D. Bowley of the New Helena vicinity. To this union were born five children; Ruth Bolen, Anselmo, Ruby Chrisp, Prosser, Washington, Katherine Geiser, Anselmo, John Bowley, Holdrege. One daughter, Lavone, preceded her in death in 1932. Her husband, John, preceded her in death in 1952. Myrtle spent her last years in Rest Haven Home at Broken Bow. On November 16th, 1970, she fell and broke her hip and was taken to Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska. Myrtle was a loving mother and kind neighbor, her daily life was a living testimonial of her faith in God. She leaves to mourn her death, her family, two step-daughters, Florence Morgan of Golden, Colorado and Sarah Dutton of Imperial, Nebraska; one sister, Florence McCall of Los Gatos, California and one adopted brother, Paul of Los Angeles; also twenty-four grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends."
