Description	:	Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Monday, 9 November 1970 ALBION (Special Dispatch) - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Mrs. Myrtle Starkey, 79, of Glennsferry, Idaho at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion, with the Rev. Lester Anderson, officiating. Burial will be made in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Albion. Mrs. Starkey died Saturday at Mountain Home Mission Home in Boise, Idaho. Lester Anderson, officiating. Burial will be made in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Albion. Mrs. Starkey died Saturday at Mountain Home Mission Home in Boise, Idaho. In Nebraska she had lived at Loretto and Albion and later in the states of Oregon and Idaho. She was born in Boone County on Dec. 17, 1890, to Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Newburn. In early life, she was married to Fred Starkey. Survivors include a son, Kenneth of Glennsferry, Idaho; a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Wardle of Salem, Ore.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Mable Joseph of Portland, Ore., and four brothers, John Newburn of North Platte, Art and Ben Newburn in Idaho and George Newburn of California. Preceded her in death were her parents, husband and daughter. ------------------------- Myrtle Starkey, daughter of William and Abbie Newburn, was born Dec. 17, 1890 at Akron. She died Nov. 7, 1970 in Boise, Id. at the age of 79. She was married in 1913 to Fred M. Starkey at Central City. To this union were born three children, one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Starkey also preceded his wife in death in March of 1945 at Evanston, Wy. She is survived by her two children, Lucile Wardle of Salem, Or. and Kenneth Starkey of Glenns Ferry, Id., also three grandchildren; three great grandchildren, one sister and four brothers, viz., Mrs. Mabel Joseph, Milwaukee, Or., Arthur Newburn and Ben Newburn of New Plymouth, Id. and John Newburn of North Platte, George Newburn of Fallzrook, Ca. and other relatives. The Starkey’s homesteaded near Jay Em, Wy., living there for several years before moving to the Loretto area where they farmed for a number of years. Mrs. Starkey was a former member of the Loretto Methodist Church and was active in that church for many years. Since 1945 she has been a member of the United Methodist Church of Salem, Or. She was a Guild member of that church for many years. She was also a member of the PEO chapter Z of Idaho and a member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge. Funeral services for Mrs. Starkey were at the Levander Funeral Home in Albion at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, Rev. Lester Anderson officiated. Mrs. Herbert Knutson was the organist and Mrs. Robert Nelson sang. Pallbearers were Gene Atwood, Leonard Noble, Lloyd Shaver, Spencer Morgan, Kenneth Noble and Stanley Oliverius.
