Elaine Arney, age 89, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and formerly of Ames, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Highlands Nursing Home, where she lived for the last year with her love of 65 years, Roger Arney. Private family graveside services will be held. Elaine was born on March 16, 1932, in Ames, to Merrill "Mike" and Myrtle (Kurtz) Griffith. She received her Master's Degree from Iowa State University and was a lifelong teacher in Iowa and Wisconsin. Elaine was an avid Cyclone fan and enjoyed spending time with family and playing golf and cards with friends. She loved celebrating anything with her Dirty Dozen friends from Bella Vista! Elaine was a member at Bella Vista Community Church. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; parents, Mike and Myrtle; sisters, Jean, Marjorie and Marilyn; niece, Pam Gaines (Don); and nephew, Dennis Snyder (Merilee). She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Joanie) and James (Carol); daughter, Jennifer LaPerre; grandchildren, Chase, Sarah, Brett and David; brother, Bruce Griffith (Sandy); best friend, Donna Mark from Des Moines; nephews, Mark Shockley (Lori), Gary Griffith (Deanne), and Steve Snyder; and nieces, Kathy Griffith, Linda Kirk (Larry) and Gloria Knutson Duenas (Ron). Mom's request was that you celebrate her with a toast and remember her joyfully! She will be buried, along with Dad's ashes, at Ames Municipal Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left to Elaine's family at www.adamssoderstrum.com.
