Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery. Casket bearers were Orris Linn, N. C. Garrett, Jr., Sammy Nelson, William Garrett, James Winters, and G. W. Garrett. He was born May 13, 1875 in Clark County, MO, the eldest son of Oliver Perry Garrett and Sarah Katherine (Hales) Garrett. He was married to Harriet Burns August 18, 1893, who died April 8, 1947. There were eight children, six of them survive. Mrs. Mae Jacobs of Fairfield, Mrs. Sadie Nelson of Milton, Mrs. Mary Linn of Keosauqua, Hollis of Baring, MO, Arthur of Bloomfield and Herschel of Milton, three brothers, Lee and Oliver of Kahoka, MO, Jess of Lansing, IA and one sister, Aurelia Blackman of Keokuk and one one-half brother, Holbert, of IL. Twenty-seven grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, eight step-great-grandchildren, some great-great-stepgrandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two daughters, brother, four sisters, five grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and one cousin.
