She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Russell H. Griffin Jr. She is survived by her four children, Dianne G. Lackovitch, Roxanne G. Hicks, Russell H. "Rusty" Griffin III and Vicki G. Lancaster (Wally); 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley H. Wagner; and one brother-in-law, G. Earl Griffin (Mary Ann). She was born in Arno, Va. At age 5, she moved to the Masonic Home in Richmond, Va., and lived there until she graduated from Highland Springs High School. In 1939, she and Russell were married. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an exceptional seamstress, making many of her children's clothes and even wedding dresses for family members. She was a faithful member of Ginter Park Presbyterian Church for many years and volunteered at Richmond Memorial Hospital for 25 years. She was an avid duplicate Bridge player, achieving the status of Life Master. She was one of the original founders of The Bridge Center, where she directed duplicate Bridge games for over 45 years. She also directed at Willow Oaks Country Club and at the Ginter Park Community Center. In addition, she enjoyed playing golf (with two hole-in-one shots to her credit), bowling, traveling abroad and beach trips with family and friends. She was a major part of family celebrations, including the grandchildren's many activities. She loved her family and we all loved her. We will miss her very much. Visitation will be at Bliley's Staples Mill location on Saturday, May 4, 2019, from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a memorial service. Interment will be private. We would like to acknowledge our sincere appreciation to The Cottages at Spring Arbor of Richmond for the loving care they provided and to the caring nurses from Richmond Hospice. Donations may be made to your favorite charity.
