She was born September 10, 1935, in Floris, the 13th child of Orval and Metta McEldowney Sullivan. Nanci spent her school years in Davis County, graduating in 1953. On November 2, 1957, she married Robert "Bob" L. Gee in Granger, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1989. Nanci began working for Wapello County Department of Human Services on July 1, 1953, retiring on March 31, 2001, as an income maintenance worker. She was known as the resident "witch" for more than 30 years in the schools, hospital and nursing homes, dressing up in a witch costume on Halloween and "flying" around town. Nanci was also known as the "Hat Lady" of Ottumwa, having over 300 hats and wearing one everywhere she went. Nanci is survived by her stepchildren, Robert L. (Karen) Gee Jr. of Arkansas, Sandy Williams and Frank Gee of Ottumwa, David (Judy) Gee of Mystic and Linda Nydle of Burlington; a brother, Harry Sullivan of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; four sisters, Judy (Charles) McMaines and Eunice Taylor of Mesa, Ariz., Mary Fulkerson and Kay Johnson of Newton; a brother-in-law, Charles Rayburn of Clear Lake; three sisters-in-law, Ethel Sullivan of Ottumwa, Mary Lou (Warren) Decker of Ottumwa, Inez Swinscoe of Arizona; 13 stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; 3 stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepgranddaughter; four brothers, Park, Frank, infants, Robert and John Sullivan; four sisters, Ruth Jean Rayburn, Doris Whitacre, Alberta Collister and Joy Swanson. Her body has been cremated. Visitation with the family present will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home. Private graveside services and inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery.
