D. Anderson, Rochester, Iowa. Nancy A Johnston was born in Franklin Co., Penn., June 17, 1834, and when but two years of age was taken by her parents, David and Catherine Johnston to Ohio where they made their home for a few years, then came to Cedar County, Iowa. She being twelve years of age at the time of the family's arrival in this locality. Here she grew to years of maturity and June 26, 1860 she gave her hand in marriage to John. R. Anderson. To this union was born three sons and one daughter, Jefferson of Rochester, Lee of Sioux City, S.P. who passed from this life nine years ago and Kate Edwards of Vasalia, California. Her entire life since the death of her husband, August 18, 1878, has been spent with her son Jefferson with the exception of two years with her daughter Kate in Missouri. She leaves to mourn her loss two sons, and one daughter, twenty-eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. Rose Barnes of Lisbon and Mrs. Rebecca Ripley of Tipton, besides many other relatives and friends. In early womanhood during a meeting held in the Court House in Tipton Mrs. Anderson gave her heart to God and remained true to the faith until death. In her last illness she often remarked that be it God's will she hoped to be called home. None but God and those with whom was closely associated during her entire life know the value, the cost, and the limitless extent of the loyalty, self sacrifice and the devotion to duty which constituted the features of Mrs. Anderson's life and character. The many beautiful floral offerings were tokens of the high esteem in which she was held. Funeral services was conducted at the home of her son in Rochester, by the Pastor of the Rochester church and interment was made in the Rochester Cemetery.
