[She died in White Gate, VA] Nancy Ann Wiley Thompson was born Nov. 5, 1861 and died August 23, 1932, aged 70 years, 9 months, and 18 days. She was married to M. L. Thompson, October 10,1883 by Rev. J. T. Taylor and to this union were born four children, three girls and one boy. Two having died in infancy and two surviving, Mrs. J. C. Vest of White Gate, Va., also Mrs. P. L. Vest of Hiawatha, WVa., also one brother and one sister, C. W. Wiley and Miss Ellen Wiley, both of White Gate, Va. Mrs. Thompson had a stroke of paralysis and lived five days, dying August 23. She professed religion about 40 years ago at home and joined the Mt. Zion Methodist Church and lived happy in the love of God until the day she died. She was kind to all, good to the poor and loved by all who knew her. For 48 years she enjoyed happiness and love in the home with her husband and friends. All was done that loving hands could do and yet she bore her suffering with great Christian fortitude and resignation until God took her away. Her favorite songs were "Home of the Soul" and "On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand " and her favorite chapter of the Scripture was the 23rd Psalm. She was fond of music and flowers. Funeral services were held by her pastor, Rev. V. M. Ross, in the Baptist Church and she was laid to rest in the White Gate Cemetery. Her grave was banked with so many beautiful flowers while tears fell from the eyes of the many that looked on.
