Description	:	Probably daughter of Daniel Bauman and Elizabeth of Gilford twp, Franklin Co, PA. Her father may have emigrated to the US from Germany in 1751. Nancy was born in 1752 and raised near Philadelphia. She could spoke only English, but she could read and write German. At some point the family moved to Franklin Co, Pa in south-central PA, prob. near Chambersburg. She married Joseph Lindesmith in Franklin Co May 3, 1772. Nancy was born in 1752 and raised near Philadelphia. She could spoke only English, but she could read and write German. At some point the family moved to Franklin Co, Pa in south-central PA, prob. near Chambersburg. She married Joseph Lindesmith in Franklin Co May 3, 1772. Their first son, Daniel was born there, then in 1774 they moved to near Berlin, Somerset Co, PA. Joseph served during the whole Revolutionary War. He was a bugler & fifer, and bore arms. He was also sometimes Washington's barber. Nancy ran the farm while he was gone. There were no children born between 1775 and 1780. They lived in Somerset County for 33 years where they attended the Reformed & Lutheran Church (churches united in 1799). They name on the church record books was "Lindeschmidt." In 1801 son Daniel's wife died. He gave the baby to his parents to raise and he remarried and moved in 1803 to Columbiana Co, Ohio. In 1807 they also moved to Columbiana Co, OH along with their other sons. Daughter Elizabeth joined them in 1810. The family attended the Trinity Reformed Church and were all buried in the church cemetery. Tombstone: Aged 82 years. Wife of Joseph Lindesmith. Great- Grandmother of Rev. E.W. Lindesmith.
