Description	:	Nancy was one of five children born to Patrick and Emily Jane Akers Mc Kern. Her first husband was Solomon Cravens Vanderpool by whom she had John E.,Teressa and Abraham H. Teressa and Abraham died young. I assume they divorced as he died in 1903 in CA. and is buried there. She married Byron Stout in 1871 and had two more children by him: William and Hiram. Nancy C Stout was born in Illinois on May 1, 1841 and departed this life Sept, 30, 1930, being at the time of her death 89 years, 3 months and 29 days. She was married in 1860 to Salmon Vanderpool, and to this union three children were born, two preceding her in infancy in death. She was again married to Byrom Stout in 1872, and to this union two sons were born, Hiram preceding her in death in 1894. The two living sons, J.E. Vanderpool of Centerville, Iowa and William Stout, of Delray, Iowa, with whom she has made her home since the death of her husband who died in December, 1916. She was converted at the age of 17, and united with the Bethel Baptist church, later when the Palestine church was organized she united with it as a charter member of which she has been a member and lived a consistent christian life to the end, being the last charter member of Palestine. Besides her two sons above mentioned, she leaves to mourn her death one sister, Mrs. W. P. Akes of Leon, one half-brother J. D. Vanderpool of Cheyenne, Wyoming, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Palestine Baptist church Wednesday, Oct. 1 at two o'clock conducted by Rev. E. C. Vanderpool of Hale, Mo, assisted by Rev Ezra Tempel, also Brother H.O. Tuttle. Interment in the Palestine Cemetery. Taken from the Umphress Scrap book.
