Nancy Ellen Smith was born on October 2, 1936 in Eldon, IA to Wayne and Ruth Burton Walker. She attended school in Batavia, IA graduating with the class of 1954. Read More	Nancy Ellen Smith, 84, of San Antonio, TX and formerly of Ottuwma, IA passed away on May 8, 2021 at her home in San Antonio, TX. Nancy Ellen Smith was born on October 2, 1936 in Eldon, IA to Wayne and Ruth Burton Walker. She attended school in Batavia, IA graduating with the class of 1954. On June 26, 1955 she was united in marriage to her best friend, Paul Smith. Together they became the loving parents to three children: David, Paul, and Jay. Nancy was a loving mother and homemaker who took care of everything around the home. Nancy and Paul worked together to open Hawkeye Real Estate on Ottumwa, IA. They served the Ottumwa and surrounding area until 1983 when they sold the business and moved to San Antonio, TX. She worked for several years for the United States Census Bureau before retiring to enjoy time at home. Her and Paul spent almost 38 year in San Antonio. Nancy was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, and quilting. Her presence will be missed by her family and many friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, David Paul Smith and Paul Frank Smith II. Left to share her story is her loving husband, Paul F. Smith of San Antonio, TX; one son, Jay H. Smith of San Antonio, TX; two sibling, Lou Walker of Mission, TX and Judy Hull of Batavia, IA as well as many extended family and friends. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Batavia, Methodist Church in Batavia, IA with Pastor Kelly Peavy officiating. Burial will be held in the Batavia Cemetery immediately following. Memorial contributions in Nancy's honor may be directed to the Batavia United Methodist Church.
