She was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Bell, Calif., to Warren J. and Ida M. Wright Gwin. She married Bobby Lee Buffington Feb. 6, 1962, in Inglewood, Calif. Nancy was a graduate of Inglewood High School in Inglewood, Calif. She worked as a substance abuse counselor, having certificates from the University of Iowa and the Iowa Department of Substance Abuse. She also worked as a criminal justice liaison for the Department of Correctional Services and as a home health aide for the Department of Social Services. She was very active with AA for the past 39 years and for the past five years has been very active with the local cancer survivor group. Surviving are her husband, Bobby Lee; two daughters, Deborah K. (Bruce) Moore of Ottumwa and Merrie E. (Ric) Rominger of Indianola; two sons, Bobby J. (Corrina) Buffington of Ottumwa and Billy J. Buffington of Indianola; four grandchildren, Stephanie Rominger, Clay Rominger, Christian Buffington and Colton Buffington; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Walter C. (Lynne) Gwin and Delbert E. (Evy) Gwin, both of Anthem, Ariz., and Richard M. Gwin of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George D. and Dorothy E. Buffington; a daughter-in-law, Tracey Buffington; and two grandchildren. Her body has been cremated. Celebration of Life services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Bill Hart officiating. Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
