Read More	OBITUARY - DES MOINES CAPITAL, FEB. 25, 1909 DIED GRIEVING FOR HER BABIES Mrs. Emma Rassler Wanted the Children Taken by Juvenile Court - Her Heart Broken Grieving because her three children were taken from her by the juvenile court, Mrs. Emma Rassler died yesterday afternoon at the home of her mother, 2518 East Lyon Street. Up to almost her last breath, the woman called for her babies, who were in the Iowa Children's home not knowing of her condition. She died without seeing them. It was the latter part of December that notice was served on Mrs. Rassler that the juvenile court would hold a hearing the next day to determine whether or not she was a fit person to care for her children. In less than twenty-four hours before she had time to gather evidence in her defense. Judge Miller ordered the children taken from her and placed in the Iowa Children's home. I.T. Jones, an attorney who appeared for her in court, was afterwards cited for contempt in connection with remarks he is alleged to have made about the methods of "railroading" babies to the state institution. Since that time Mrs. Rassler has grieved for her little ones. She was suffering with tuberculosis, and the physician who attended her said today there was no doubt that her grief hastened her death. "She kept asking for the children," the doctor said. "Yesterday morning, before she became too weak to talk, she again called for them. Members of the family said the mother had been promised a sight of the children, but they were not brought." OBITUARY - ALTOONA HERALD, MARCH 4, 1909 The remains of Mrs. Emma Rassler, wife of Geo. Rassler, who died in Des Moines last Wednesday were brought here and interred in the Altoona cemetery last Friday afternoon. Mrs. Rasler was formerly Miss Emma Arrowood daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Arrowood all of whom moved to Des Moines several years ago. She was married to Mr. George Rasler before the family left Altoona and will be remembered by most of our older citizens. p.5
