Description	:	Swartzendruber Nancy Jane (Marner) Swartzendruber was born near Kalona, Iowa, May 23, 1867; passed away Nov. 26, 1945; aged 78 y. 6 m. 3 d. In youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Amish Mennonite Church. On Oct. 30, 1887, she was married to Shem Swartzendruber, who preceded her in death April 26, 1942. In youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Amish Mennonite Church. On Oct. 30, 1887, she was married to Shem Swartzendruber, who preceded her in death April 26, 1942. They lived on a farm near Kalona until 1893, when they moved to a farm near Clarion, Iowa. From 1901 to 1915 they resided at Centralia, Mo., and since that time in the community of Wayland, Iowa. She was the mother of nine children, all of whom survive. When they moved to the Wayland community she and her husband transferred their membership to the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church, of which she was a faithful member at the time of her death. The last few years of her life she suffered from a heart malady. A few weeks previous to her death she was taken to the State University Hospital at Iowa City for observation and treatment in hope of getting relief. In the course of her treatment a limb was amputated. While lying on her bed of affliction she selected a text and several hymns to be used at her funeral in case she would not survive. She leaves 2 daughters (Esther Mrs. S. D. Gnagey, Pigeon, Mich.; and Salina, at home), 7 sons (Lee and Earl, of Wayland; Fred, Herbert, and Thomas, Hopedale, Ill.; Omar, New Carlisle, Ohio; and George, St. Johns, Mich.), 8 brothers (Lee, Pueblo, Colo.; Ed and Sam, El Paso, Texas), 38 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
