Griggs Funeral Held (newspaper article) Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Griggs, who died Friday at her residence, 2208 East Thirtieth street, were held yesterday afternoon from Limber's Chapel. Mrs. Griggs leaves two sons, A. V. Greer of Kellogg, Idaho and Roland Greer of Idaho Falls, Idaho, one daughter, Alma McCoy of Kellogg, four sisters Mrs. May Churchill and Audry Griggs of Seattle, Mrs. Maud Jack of Independence, Kansas and Mrs. Emily Barker of Herd, Oklahoma and one brother, William Gilkey Jr., of Portland. This letter was written to Granddaughter Buelah Churchill Bush from W. E. Gilkey and his wife, Julia A. The letter is in regards to the death of W. E. Gilkey's daughter Nancy J. Gilkey. Elk City, Oklahoma January 3, 1936 Dear Buelah and all: I am sending this to you as you was the only one in that place I could get any real word of and don't no your no. Marie sent your add. to us some time ago. Wee got the wire of Nancie passing away sent by Alma her daughter and she did not sine (sign) his last name so I could not send a wire back or don't no who to write to so if you get this please get in touch with the children for us so wee can write them. She just sined on the wire Alma. Grandady wants to no [know] the particulars. Wee are both ok. Dad has had a cold for several days. I been giving him medicine but he went to the shop today. He has a job with the government and I am nursing at my home. Have a man to nurse in daytime and his wife takes care of him at night. We are getting along fine for too old folks. I bee 77 -6-of this mo. And Dad going on 80 but we stay close at home. Don't get out much in the car on highway. Well Buelah let us no at once all about Nancy. Hope this finds all well. There is lots of sickness heare and lots of deaths to. It is turning cold heare this morning. We had lots of cold weather all ready. I called the girles in Independence the night I got the wire but have not heard from any of them. Talk to Mauds girl Leona. Well I will close. Hope to here from you soon.
