Her ashes will be interned at Newton Union Cemetery. The daughter of Robert D. and Lelah Rucker Main, she was born on June 28, 1963, in Newton, Iowa. She attended Newton schools and graduated in 1981. During her senior year she was employed at Skiff Hospital through the HERO program. She continued to work at Skiff for 31 years. A diagnosis of short-term memory loss resulted in early disability retirement in 2014. Nancy was an active participant in many sports (participating in six RAGBRAIs) and enjoyed garage sales, thrift stores, and dancing. Over the years, Nancy loved her many cats and her Yorkie, Abbey, gave her great comfort in most recent years. Nancy was preceded in death by her father in 1997 and both maternal and paternal grandparents. Surviving is her mother, Lelah Rucker Main of Newton, and two older sisters, Margaret (Doug) Shafer of Tracy, Iowa, and Carol (Gregg) Trease of Newton. Nancy had many nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorials would be encouraged to go to Jasper County Animal Rescue League, Newton Salvation Army's Food Pantry, or Midwest Hospice.
