A Graveside Service will be held 4:00 p.m., Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown, IA. Anderson Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com. Nancy was born April 30, 1950, the only child of Ruth Appelgate Rasmussen and Arnold Rasmussen in Marshalltown. She grew up on a farm in the Green Mountain area. Nancy attended and graduated from the Green Mountain class of 1968. In high school, she played clarinet in the pep band and marching band. Nancy had a beautiful singing voice, competing and winning state ratings for her duets and quartets. After high school, she attended Marshalltown Community College and graduated in 1972 from Drake University with a business degree. She remained a faithful Drake Relay fan, attending as often as possible. Nancy was employed by Wells Fargo in Minneapolis for nearly 30 years, taking early retirement in 2003. She continued to work as a consultant for Wells Fargo for several years. She found a new work family at Smith Import Motor Supply in 2005, and fell in love with a succession of doggie work companions. Nancy was active in the annual Hopkins Raspberry Festival, serving in many capacities over the years. She was president in 1988, 1995, 1998, and 1999. She was honored as Grand Marshal of the Festival Parade in 2004. Nancy will be remembered by family and friends for her Christmas letters; she had a way with words, and her devotion to Oldsmobiles was legendary! Nancy is survived by one aunt, Lillian Gummert, and many cousins. She is missed by her friends at Smith Import Motor Supply, the many people she touched through the Hopkins Raspberry Festival, and her former classmates.
