Burial at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Nancy died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at her home in Columbia, SD, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy Kay Vietmeier was born on January 11, 1949 in Aberdeen, SD, to Allen “Bud” and Marion (Buntrock) Jasmer. She was baptized January 30, 1949. She grew up in Columbia, SD and attended eight years of Parochial School and three years of high school. Her last year of high school was in Groton, SD, where she graduated in 1967. She worked at St. Luke’s Hospital Pharmacy for many years. Nancy then worked at Harvest States. Nancy married Larry Vietmeier on December 28, 1991 and they moved to Mandan, ND. She was employed there at a collection agency. In 2000, Nancy and Larry moved to Columbia where they resided until the time of her death. She worked various jobs and volunteered at Avera St. Luke’s. Nancy was known for driving her “Red Rosie” around Columbia. She never missed a sporting event and loved shopping and shoes, especially flip flops. She had a close circle of friends and made yearly trips with her “Columbia Girls”. Nancy never had children of her own but sure took her sister Arlyce’s five children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren under her wing, along with Larry’s kids and grandkids. She loved them all as if they were her own. Grateful for having shared Nancy’s life are her husband Larry; children: Amy (Jeremy) Krueger and Allan (Kim) Vietmeier, six grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew; and grandniece and nephews. Preceding Nancy in death are her parents, Allen “Bud” & Marion Jasmer, her sister Arlyce DeHoet, brother-in-law Carroll DeHoet, and nephew Ross Hanna.
