Read More	OBITUARY, St. Paul Phonograph,Wednesday 13 July 1927 p4:3, Nancy Knowles was born in Posey County, Indiana, Jan. 15th, 1845. In 1863 she was joined in marriage to Hardin Wheeler. To them were born four children only one of whom, Mrs. John Perry of Greeley, survive the mother. Mr. Wheeler died in 1869 and in 1871 she was again married, to James Walling. In 1885 she, with her family came to Nebraska and has been a resident of this state ever since. Mr. Wheeler was a veteran of the Civil War, which entitled Mrs. Walling to the privileges of the Soldiers Home at Burkett (later the Grand Island Veteran's Home), where for several years she has resided, making short visits to those of her children who lived in this vicinity, and it was while so visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Milton Nunn, of this city, that she passed away on Saturday, July 9th, having reached the age of 82 years, 5 months and 24 days. She leaves to mourn her going, seven children, 34 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Christensen Undertaking Parlors on Monday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. L. W. Westphal officiating. Internment in Elmwood cemetery. His death probably prompted her move from Indiana to Nebraska to be near other family members. Her mother, uncle, and a Wheeler daughter and previously moved to Merrick Co., Nebraska. Nancy was married three times: Hardin Wheeler; James Walling; Henry Rankin. Hardin and Walling left her a widow. Rankin left her shortly after their marriage. She applied and received a divorce from Rankin for legal/pension reasons, but he may have already been deceased before this divorce. In addition to her four children with Mr. Hardin, Nancy had six more children with Mr. Walling. Nancy and Mr. Rankin had no children.
