Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Nancy Lee Hoffman was born on August 19, 1936 in Kimball, NE to Carl and Emma (Deglar) Hoffman. She was raised in Nebraska and graduated from Kimball County High School in 1953. She then attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO and graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design. Nancy met Duane Herman while in college, and they were united in marriage on June 15, 1958 in Bushnell, NE. They made their home in Colorado, later Iowa, back to Colorado, and finally moving permanently to Merrill, Iowa in 1969. Nancy primarily stayed at home with their daughters, Barbara and DeAnne while they were young. Once they were in high school, she then began working outside of the home in retail, working at the Fashionette and ALCO in Le Mars. Nancy and Duane moved to Le Mars in 1979. Nancy later retired from retail and began working part time at Brentwood Nursing Home as a cook. She also volunteered at the Floyd Valley Hospital Gift Shop. Nancy was a member of the United Methodist Church, Floyd Valley Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her younger years she was an avid gardener, tending to her flower, fruit, vegetable beds and was a member of a garden club. She was an animal lover, especially loving cats. She also enjoyed reading and loved to walk, walking at least two miles every day. Nancy is survived by her daughters: Barbara (Ernie Keller) Dorman of Plattsmouth, NE and DeAnne (Will) Fedde of Elkhorn, NE; grandchildren: Jimmy Himphill, Stacy (Brian) Rubis, DJ Jennings, Taylor Jennings, Kyle (Kasey) Pinkard, Courtney (Travis) Berglund, Josh Fedde, and Lucas Fedde; 9 great grandchildren: Hailey, Brandon, and Aiden Kramer, Carson Rubis, Corbin Boettcher, Julianna Massingale, Kaia Pinkard, Jaxon and Ella Berglund; siblings in law: Marjorie (Virgil) Willer of Akron, Delores Bohlken of Le Mars, Shirley (Verlyn) Baker of Pickstown, SD, Gladys Mroczkowski of Le Mars, Milford (Sharon) Herman of Le Mars, Donald (Gloria) Herman of Urbandale, IA, Estella Herman of Le Mars, and Shelley Hoffman of Boulder, CO; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
