Highland Recorder June 15, 1967 Mrs. Nancy Siron Armstrong, 24, was killed instantly Sunday at about 3 p. m. when she was hurled from her rear seat on a motorcycle into a fence. Her death is the first on Highland's highways in five years. The tragedy occurred on Rt 654 about two miles north of McDowell. Trooper J.R. Haga, the investigating officer said Mrs. Armstrong was killed when the motorcycle driven by her husband, Benny W. Armstrong, 26, was struck in the rear by a car driven by William C. Snyder, 48, of Hagerstown, Md. The trooper said that Armstrong was making a left turn into a driveway near the family home and that the car was attempting to pass when it struck the rear of the motorcycle. Mrs. Armstrong was thrown for about 30 feet and suffered multiple injuries to the head and body. Mr. Armstrong incurred a severe bruise and sprain to his right leg and minor lacerations. The motorcycle was owned by a brother in-law of Mrs. Arm strong, Harold Beverage, of Fishersville. Mr. and Mrs. Beverage were visiting and Mrs. Armstrong asked her husband to take her for a short ride. Damage was extensive to the motorcycle and listed at about $300 to the car. A technical charge of involuntary manslaughter has been filed against Snyder while the investigation continues. Mrs. Armstrong was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Siron of Strait Creek, near Monterey and was salutatorian of the 1960 graduating class at Monterey High School. She later worked as a secretary- at the high school. She was a member of Seybert Chapel Methodist Church and was born Aug. 19, 1942. Survivors, besides her parents and husband, are two sons, Kevin, 5, and David. 3; a sister, Mrs. Harold Beverage, of Fishersville. two brothers. Grant A. Siron and Gary D. Siron. both of Falls Church, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from Obaugh Funeral Home at McDowell Tuesday, June 13 at 2:30 p. m. by the Rev. Norman A. Compton. Burial was in McKendree Cemetery near McDowell.
