Mrs. Seawell was born on July 17, 1924, in Stuart, Virginia, to Mack and Gladys Craddock. During World War II, the family lived in Portsmouth, Virginia, where she met and married William Hunter Seawell Sr. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Charlottesville, serving as a greeter, a flower arranger, a cook for the Family Night suppers and a member of the senior choir. Her interests included cooking, gardening, and needlework. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hunter Seawell Sr.; her son, William Hunter Seawell Jr.; and a baby brother, known only as "Baby Craddock." Mrs. Seawell is survived by a daughter-in-law, Rose Ann Garletts Seawell; a daughter, Nancy Seawell Sanders and her husband, Tony Boothe Sanders; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brother, Mack A. Craddock Jr. A memorial service was held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 735 Park Street, Charlottesville. The family wishes to thank Meals on Wheels, Morningside of Charlottesville, and Legacy Hospice Care for their care of Mrs. Seawell in her last months.
