Description	:	Mrs. Nannie L. James, nee Mellet, and relict of the late R. B. James, was born in Clarendon county, near Summerton, August 23, 1848, and died at her home May 23, 1912, after a lingering illness of several weeks. She spent practically all of her life in the community in which she was born, and her acquaintances had a life-time knowledge of her Godly walk and conversation. Read More	Mrs. Nannie L. James, nee Mellet, and relict of the late R. B. James, was born in Clarendon county, near Summerton, August 23, 1848, and died at her home May 23, 1912, after a lingering illness of several weeks. She spent practically all of her life in the community in which she was born, and her acquaintances had a life-time knowledge of her Godly walk and conversation. All who knew her have universal testimony to her pious, loyal, faithful, Christian life. She joined old St. Paul's Methodist church at the age of twelve years, and for fifty-two years she was a faithful, devoted member; twelve years of this time she was a teacher in the Sunday school. She was a good woman in the true sense of the word, always ready to minister to the distressed, delighting to engage in worship to her God, paeaking a kind word and doing a loving deed whenever circumstances afforded the opportunity. Her testimony a day or two before her death was clear and triumphant. Said she: "It it is the Lord's will, I would like to live a few years longer to serve Him more and to help my fellow-man, but if it is HIs will for me to go, I am not afraid; I am ready. O, how good the Lord has been to me! I don't know what I should have done without the Lord at this time." Her death was serene and calm; as an infant falling asleep she passed over to be forever with her Lord. She received her education at Columbia Female College, during the years of the war, when Rev. Henry M. Mood was president. On February 16, 1865, she was happily married to Mr. R. B. James. Of this union one son, Mr. W. E.
