She had been in her usual health and enjoying a chat with a friend when she complained of a pain and fell dead. She had suffered from a shock several years ago and had been confined to her wheel chair since.She had borne her affliction with fortitude and patience.Always a woman of much activity , her enforced illness was a severe cross but to her friends she was most cheerful. Mrs Childs was born in Martinez California and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Tryphena Coffin. At the age of seven she came here with her parents and spent practically most of her life here.She was born in January 27, 1866.She was married to Everett P Childs of Centerville, Dec. 31st 1885 . She leaves four children, a son Vernon Childs of this village,three daughters, Mrs Bernard Ames and Mrs Joseph Daniels of this place and Evelyn Childs of Boston.She is also survived by her husband E P Childs and two brothers, Oliver Coffin of this village and Edwin H Coffin of Providence; nephews and nieces, eight grandchildren who mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother and friend. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan 7th at 1:30pm at the Community Church, Rev Raymond Hibbard, pastor, officiating. There was a large attendance.Many beautiful flowers testified to the love and respect she was held in.W I Fuller sang Somewhere the Sun is Shining. Interment was int he family lot in Centerville.Though gone from our midst her memory will remain enshrined in the hearts of her family and friends.Sympathy is extended to her friends. additional information courtesy of RJensen in the forums.
