Description	:	*Member of County Pioneer Family Dies* Mrs. Nancy Mae Lanini died Saturday evening at the age of 89, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dean Briggs, in Redway. She had resided there three years. Mrs. Lanini was born on July 4, 1868, to the David Ebys who were Petrolia ranchers. Read More	*Member of County Pioneer Family Dies* Mrs. Nancy Mae Lanini died Saturday evening at the age of 89, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dean Briggs, in Redway. She had resided there three years. Mrs. Lanini was born on July 4, 1868, to the David Ebys who were Petrolia ranchers. She spent her girlhood years there, where she met and married Rafael Lanini of Switzerland in 1885. Seven daughters were born to the couple, five of whom are now living. The early part of the Lanini's married life was spent on Little Cock Robin Island, near Ferndale. The island was washed away years ago by Eel River floods. The two owned and operated a dairy ranch on Cannibal Island near Loleta for 13 years but high waters forced them to move in 1915 to Humboldt Hill. Her husband died in 1947 at the age of 88. Mrs. Lanini then spent three and a half years in Van Nuys with the Royer family after which she lived with the Briggs family at Alderpoint and later at Redway. Mrs. Lanini recalled many incidents of pioneer days, including a horseback ride to Sacramento Valley. She was a charter member of the Humboldt Grange and donated the Spruce Point property on which the Grange hall is built. She also belonged to both the state and national Granges. Survivors include her children, Mrs. Angela Philip, Eureka; Mrs. Ada Della Vega; Oakland; Mrs. Lillian E. Lippetoe, Alderpoint; Mrs. Alice Briggs, Redway; Mrs. Delores Rover, Van Nuys; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Parott, Eureka; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchldren. Rosary will be recited Thursday at 8:15 p.m. in the Cooper Mortuary. Following a brief service Friday at 9:20 a.m. in Cooper Mortuary. Requiem mass will be offered at St. Bernard's Church at 10 a.m. with burial in St. Bernard's Cemetery. Published on page 3 of the Times Standard on October 14, 1957
