Read More	Nancy May Kinney Dead Miss Nancy May Kinney was born in Arkansas May 12, 1890, and was left motherless when she was eight years old, with four others, a brother and sister older and a brother and sister younger then herself for her father, the late Rev. P. F. Kinney to care for, the youngest who is now Mrs R. E. Snorgrass, of this city, being at the death of her mother, only two years old. Mr. Kinney, with his motherless children, moved to Morgan county in June 1905, and bought a small farm about four miles south of Versailles, where in a few years afterward the oldest daughter was married leaving May to care for her younger brother and sister which she continued to faithfully perform until her father's death, April 12, 1912, when the children broke up housekeeping, and all went to work for themselves, but remained near Versailles, except the older brother who had gone to Nebraska and married, several years before his father's death. Soon after her father died, May's health began to fail and she visited a sister by her father's first marriage who lives in Washington. Iowa, then visited her brother, Dolphas in Nebraska, returning she stayed with her sister, Mrs. Wm. Ritchie, who lives near Spears cave, this county, until last April when she was brought to Versailles by her physicians that she might receive more thorough treatment but, although everything was done that could be for her by both physicians and friends, she succumbed to that dreadful disease, sarcoma, Saturday evening, June 20, at the home of the Republican editor, whose wife had been nursing her the past month. Her youngest brother, Phineas, who has been caring for her mostly, and the youngest sister, Mrs. R. E. Snorgrass, were the only relatives who could be at her beside when she died, but her half-sister, Mrs. Alice Busby, of Iowa, arrived in time for the funeral which was held at the Versailles Baptist church, June 22, after which the remains were interred in the City cemetery by those of her father, in the presence of a large congregation of sorrowing friends. May was converted and united with the West Union Baptist Church in October 1912, and lived a life commendable of anyone professing Godliness -- a life consistent with pledge to the church and to God. She was an active worker in both church and Sunday school being a teacher in the latter, while her health permitted, and was always ready to testify of her love for and faith in her risen Lord, and only a few days before she died sang a stanza of the beautiful hymn "Will the Waters Be Chilly, When I Am Called to Die." It is only right and just to say that all who knew her loved her, and as we think of her pure, simple life and meditate upon it, our mind recalls all the more vividly the oft repeated truth that "God Moves in a Mysterious Way His Wonders to Perform." We commend her life to those who knew her for an example and point the loved ones to the God and Creator that she so faithfully served and loved, knowing that to see her again, they must prepare to go to her as she can never more come to them. May they meditate upon that sweet life and accept the promise "Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The Republican joins the brothers and sisters and the many friends of this dear girl in deepest sympathy in the loss of their loved one.
