Nancy Newsham, daughter of Adelbert M. and Emma Newsham, was born Jan. 8, 1889. She was next to the oldest in a family of twelve. When she was seventeen, her mother died, leaving her to take a mother's place in caring for the large family. This responsibility she assumed with willingness, sacrificing her own pleasures and desires in behalf of her family. Her life she devoted to others, with an unselfishness that is a mark of true greatness. Even during her intense suffering, she never failed to appreciate the care and kindnesses of her loved ones and friends. She was a member of the Greenwood Methodist Church, and although her health made frequent attendance impossible, she assisted with church activities in any way she could. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ada, who died when a child, and Lucy Gustafson, and one brother, Alvie. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Margie Fox of Ashland, Mrs. Adeline Gustafson of Greenwood, and six brothers, William of Swedeburg, Frank, George and Noble of Ashland, Charley of Bachelor, Mo., and Fred of Waverly, besides other relatives and a host of loving friends.
