EDWARD HAMMOND BURIED Funeral services for Mrs. Edward Hammond, 52, were held at the M. E. church Thursday afternoon with the Rev. G. R. McDowell, assisted by the Rev. E. H. Harvey, in charge. She was buried in Britt, Iowa. Her death occurred Tuesday of last week. She suffered a slight stroke at her home in Grant township some six weeks prior, and later developed pneumonia. Nancy Bell Wise, eldest daughter of Mrs. Sarah Wise, was born in Estle county, Kentucky, December 22, 1883. During girlhood, she moved with her parents to Illinois, where on March 27, 1901, she was united in marriage to Edward Hammond. Eleven children were born to this union, one daughter dying in infancy. For the past 20 years the family has resided in Iowa, and about three years ago moved to the farm six miles north of Swea City. The deceased had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since childhood. She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Mrs. Ethel Wood, Woden; Mrs. Edith Spainhour, Clinton, Illinois; Mrs. Doris Beadle, Armstrong; Marjorie and Arlene at home; five sons, John of Clinton, Illinois; Oscar of Wesley; Will of Swea City; Herman and Edward, Jr. at home. Her mother, Mrs. Sarah Wise, of Sexton; six sisters, five brothers and 12 grandchildren also survive. Articles sent to me from Brian.
