Cemetery. Miss Nannie Lee Halsey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. V. (Dick) Halsey was born at Piney Creek, North Carolina on March 31, 1889. She lived at Piney Creek until the age of 21, when she came to Tilden with her parents. Here she spent the remainder of her life. Since 1951 she had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Gwyn Galyen. Miss Halsey was stricken with Spinal Meningitis at the age of 11 months which resulted in total deafness. Despite this handicap, she lived a happy, normal life until Saturday, November 28, when she suffered a Cerebral Hemorrhage and was taken to the Tilden Hospital, where she passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 1964. As a child she attended the Baptist Church and in recent years the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Tilden. She leaves to mourn her departure four sisters, Mrs. Gwyn (Anise) Galyen, Mrs. Gerald (Helen) Hawkins, both of Tilden; Mrs. Kenneth (Ellen) Sheldon of Brunswick, Mrs. Myrtle Fellows of Springfield, Mo.; three brothers, Mack and Grover of Tilden, Bruce of Pierce and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Cyntha) Dunivan, Mrs. Joseph (Alice) Dietz and an infant brother, Dale Reeves Halsey.
