Description	:	OBIT: Mrs. Nannie Smith, former pioneer Kittitas Valley resident, died Tuesday at Wesley Gardens near Des Moines at the age of 88 years. She was born January 8, 1880 at Montague, Texas, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theron Malcolm Shelton who were pioneers in the Kittitas Valley. The family left Texas in the spring of 1883 and sailed to The Dalles by boat from San Francisco. A team of mules and wagon brought the family to the Kittitas Valley. Read More	OBIT: Mrs. Nannie Smith, former pioneer Kittitas Valley resident, died Tuesday at Wesley Gardens near Des Moines at the age of 88 years. She was born January 8, 1880 at Montague, Texas, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theron Malcolm Shelton who were pioneers in the Kittitas Valley. The family left Texas in the spring of 1883 and sailed to The Dalles by boat from San Francisco. A team of mules and wagon brought the family to the Kittitas Valley. She taught school in Wenatchee for one year from 1901 until 1902 and also taught in local schools for several years. She was married to J. M. Ives in November of 1903 and her husband died one year later. She was later married to Sherman T. Smith, also a pioneer resident, in 1909 and the family farmed in the Kittitas Valley for 48 years, retiring in 1957. Mr. Smith preceded his wife in death, passing away December 25, 1959. Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by one brother, Marvin Shelton, Montesano, and one sister, Mrs. Lillian Morfield, Ellensburg. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Evenson Funeral Home. The Rev. Alvin Lustie will officiate and burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery. Ellensburg Daily Record, May 9, 1968
