Marcus graduated from Earling High School and Naomie from Westphalia High School. Marcus married Naomie A. Schmitz, who was born in Westphalia on April 5, 1927 to Henry Schmitz, born in Westphalia November 15, 1883, and Mary Kramer Schmitz, born in Earling May 20, 1888. Naomie's brothers and sisters are: Stella Wingert, Lillian Blum, Laura, Virgil, Alice Kwapiszeski, Leroy, and Eileen Schroder . Marcus moved to Defiance from Omaha in 1949 and lived here until 1954 when they moved to a farm near Earling. They moved back to Defiance in January of 1960, where Marcus had a body shop. Their children are: Patrick married to Maggie Stork; Sharon married to Dr. Henri Duyzend; Don; Douglas married to Eileen Crevier; Terry; Bill; Gene; Nancy; Junior and Jack. Patrick is Dept. Manager of Target Stores in Denver, Colorado. Sharon is a microbiologist and dental assistant in Seattle, Washington. Donald attends Electronics School in Denver. Douglas served as legislative assistant to Rep. Touke in Washington, D.C., then was named Director of Energy Policy Council and now is Administrative Assistant to Gov. Ray of Iowa. Terry attended Brown Institute in Minnesota, was a disc jockey for two years, and now attends Iowa State. Bill graduated this year from Central College of Pella, Iowa. Nancy attends University of Northern Iowa. Marcus served in the Air Force three and a half years during World War II, belongs to Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, Parish Council three years, township clerk, member of town council and Independent Business Bureau. Naomie is a member of DCCW.
