Description	:	Naomi Avis Galbraith was born April, 10, 1913 in Newell, Iowa to R. B. Edith (Shook) Galbraith. She was confirmed in 1925 at the First Congregational Church in Newell, where she was a life time member since "Cradle Roll" and life time of Women's Fellowship. Following graduation from Newell High School in 1930, Naomi attended Fullerton College in Fullerton, California, in Liberal Arts for one year, then transferring to Northern Iowa College in Cedar Falls for three years and received a degree in teaching, Naomi taught country school in Douglas Township #3 in Sac County. She was confirmed in 1925 at the First Congregational Church in Newell, where she was a life time member since "Cradle Roll" and life time of Women's Fellowship. Following graduation from Newell High School in 1930, Naomi attended Fullerton College in Fullerton, California, in Liberal Arts for one year, then transferring to Northern Iowa College in Cedar Falls for three years and received a degree in teaching, Naomi taught country school in Douglas Township #3 in Sac County. During the war years of 1942 through 1945, Naomi resided in Minneapolis, MN., where she was a claims adjuster for a dry cleaning company earning 32 cents an hour. 1945 brought Naomi back to Newell where she was employed by the United States Post Office for 31 years, with 11 of those years serving as Post Master. Naomi retired in 1976. Naomi was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, National Federal Employees and Amvets Auxiliary. Naomi still belonged to "Gaviliars", past presidents of the Amvets, in Storm Lake which she met with regularly until ill-health prevented her from attending this past year. She served as statePresident of the Iowa Amvets in 1960 and 1961. Naomi was also National Treasurer of the Amvets. She and brother Dean shared many of these state meetings traveling together. For many years they wintered at Hemet, California and enjoyed getting together with their cousins. Preceding Naomi in death were her parents, father in 1959, mother in 1972 and brother Dean in March of 1988. Naomi leaves to mourn her caregivers and close friends, Shorty and Donna, special friend Ted Bauer and wife Stacey, Spencer, Iowa, several cousins in California and Newell and many friends in Newell.
