Jennings, 87, died Monday morning, Feb. 3, 1992, after becoming ill, suddenly, at the home of her son, Gerald Jennings and wife in Lincoln, NE, where they had gone for a visit. She was taken to the hospital by the emergency unit but died shortly from a heart problem. The daughter of Anson and Anna Laura (Waldron) South, she was born in March 1904, near Massena and was a graduate of Massena High School with the class of 1923. In 1929 she was married to Raymond Jennings at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Massena and the couple farmed in the Massena area for several years until moving to Ringgold County for a couple of years. They purchased a farm in Taylor County, not far from Lenox, in 1943. The couple had four children. In 1959, all the children were married and gone from home so they moved to Des Moines where he attended barber college. He spent his apprenticeship here with LeRoy Stakey and moved to Council Bluffs where he purchased a barber shop. Urban Renewal purchased the shop and Raymond retired in Council Bluffs. The couple’s four children are Gerald of Lincoln, NE, Betty Sena of Santa Anna, CA, Jean Novy of Greenfield and Patty Penrod of Kansas City, MO, and their families, who survive her.
