Description	:	Mrs. Naomi Jessie Hartzell, 79, of Burlington died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Great River Medical Center. Born December 18, 1931 in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Cleveland and Bessie Hester Odell. Mrs. Hartzell was a Burlington High School graduate and also attended college at Wessington Springs College in South Dakota and Greenville College in Illinois. Read More	Mrs. Naomi Jessie Hartzell, 79, of Burlington died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Great River Medical Center. Born December 18, 1931 in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Cleveland and Bessie Hester Odell. Mrs. Hartzell was a Burlington High School graduate and also attended college at Wessington Springs College in South Dakota and Greenville College in Illinois. It was while at Greenville that she met her husband, Wayne T. Hartzell. They were married September 23, 1960 in Burlington. Mrs. Hartzell sang with a traveling trio and in the choir while at Wessington Springs and Greenville. She was a musician, playing the piano, organ and accordion and sang solos in various churches in and around Burlington. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Hartzell was a teacher at a Christian day school in Corona, California. After her children went to school she became a teacher's assistant in special education classrooms and later became a substitute teacher until her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Hartzell was a member of Burlington Baptist Church. She also enjoyed knitting and teaching others to knit. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Hartzell of Burlington; twins, Levi Hartzell and Lavada Hartzell both of Burlington and one sister, Opal Anderson of Burlington. Her parents; four brothers, Frank, Johnnie, McKenzie and Harold; and one sister, Millie preceded her in death. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, May 13th, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. The funeral service for Mrs. Hartzell will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14th, in Burlington Baptist Church. Pastor Kendall Adams will officiate. Interment will be in Blakeway Cemetery, rural Danville. A memorial has been established for the family.
