She was born on Jan. 2, 1909, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Philip Spencer and Essie Pearl Strickler Rodgers.
On Feb. 27, 1934, she married James Robert Housden, who died on Sept. 1, 1962.
She is survived by two sons, James Donald and Kenneth R. Housden, both of Luray; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Creta Mae Jenkins, Mabel Aileen Dofflemyer and Margaret Virginia Finter.
