Visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 14, at the Martelle Christian Church in Anamosa. Pastor Troy Titus will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville, Iowa, with Military Rites by the American Legion Post 309. Narvis Ilsley Robinson was born January 9, 1922, in Jones County, Iowa, the son of William R. and Edith (Ilsley) Robinson. He received his early education in the Hazel Hill School near his home. He graduated from the Mechanicsville High School with the class of 1939. He worked on the farm and helped neighbors, until he entered the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served as a gunner on the destroyer, USS Bush, which was sunk on April 6, 1945 by three kamikazes. He married Genevieve Stoecker on May 24, 1945, in Mechanicsville. The couple farmed north of Mechanicsville, until they retired in 1984, and moved to Anamosa. Genevieve died July 9, 2007. In retirement Narvis made and repaired furniture. He served on the Martelle Coop Board for 21 years and the Morley Telephone Company for 36 years. He was a member of Bush-Dennis American Legion Post since 1945, and had also belonged to the Circle J Square Dance Club. He is survived by two daughters, Sally (Terry) Fairbanks of Lost Nation, and Susan (Myron) Ehresman of Anamosa; six grandchildren, Darcey Wimer, Stacey Wilkins, Brian (Tammy) Fairbanks, Tami (Trent) Jeffrey, Eric (Heather) Ehresman, and Mark (Kate) Ehresman; 19 great-grandchildren, Mason, Jennifer, Josie, Jillian, Jaden, Taylor, Tyler, Seth, Cole, Cody, Abigail, Levi, Mariah, Jessica, Jarett, Brady, Mya, Sydney and Greysen; one sister, Corrine Betcher of Davenport; and four brothers, Casper (Geralene) Robinson of Anamosa, and Gorman (Fay) Robinson, Victor (Mary Jean) Robinson, and Calvin (Fran) Robinson, all of Mechanicsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, Quentin Robinson. Goettsch Funeral Home
