Wilson, 81, longtime resident of this vicinity and widely known, died at his home in Moravia at about 4:30 a. m., Monday, July 25, following an extended illness. Masonic services at the grave. Mr. Wilson was born in Guildford county, North Carolina, March 4, 1857, and came to Iowa with his parents as a child. Except for three years in Indiana, he has always lived in or near Moravia. He was 81 years, 4 months, and 22 days old at the time of his passing. For many years he operated a general store at Foster and Moravia. In later years he was a landowner and prominent farmer. For the last twenty years he has lived in Moravia. Many friends and relatives mourn his departure from this life. He was a member of Antiquity Lodge No. 252, A. F. & A. M. Surviving him, besides his wife, are seven children; numerous grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Source: The Moravia Union July 28, 1938 Nathan Gregory Wilson, son of Jess Milton and Miriam Gardner Wilson, was born March 3rd, 1857 in Guilford County, North Carolina, moving to Iowa that same fall and lived on a farm northeast of Moravia for 10 years. The family then moved to Indiana, returning to Iowa two years later, where Mr. Wilson lived the remainder of his life in or near Moravia. Two years ago this month he suffered a stroke of paralysis, and although not rendered helpless his health was broken and he knew the time was soon at hand when he must leave this world, and often made the request and said he was ready to go. On July 25th, 1938 he suffered another stroke and passed away at 4:30 a. m. at the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 22 days. He was united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Coffin, July 4, 1877. To this union was born 3 sons: Lester, Claude and Marshall, and 4 daughters Eunice, Elsie, Ocile and Nell. All three sons and Elsie passed to their reward while children, and on July 15, without warning, their mother's soul took flight and lined them in that promised land. On August 22, 1894 he was married to Adda Eliza Hawk, and to them was born four sons, Spencer, Frank, Leonard and Clyde. The mother of these boys was called to her eternal rest September 18, 1918. Again on April 10, 1920 Mr. Wilson was married to Alice Rachel Hiatt who was his devoted wife and nurse to the last, and who has made a home for his children, robbed of their mothers. Left to mourn are his widow; daughters, Eunice Suiter of Arnold, Sask., Canada; Ocile Wilson, Phoenix, Ariz.; Nell Rousseau, Spencer, Iowa; 4 sons, Clyde and Spencer, Buckeye, Arizona; Leonard of Charleston, Utah, and Frank of Moravia. Also twelve grandchildren, Dortha and Howard Hlson, Spencer, Iowa; Francis Suiter, Canada; Wilette, Miriam and Martha Wilson, Arizona; Tommy, Ronald and Adda Lou, Charleston, Utah; and James fathan, John and Paul, Moravia. Mrs. Rachel Hart of Wyoming, a sister, and Eph Wilson a brother, of Moravia, also survive. Source: The Moravia Union August 4, 1938
