Description	:	Ned George French born May 21, 1879 son of George H.French and Emma E Drew. Ned was just 10 months old when his dad passed April 8, 1880 at Orneville of Typhoid Fever. The 1880 Federal Census shows Emma and Ned living with his Grandparents Alvah L French and Mary R Hoxie. Emma married William F Wells September 20, 1882 at Milo. It is not known if Ned's step father William and his second wife Mary raised Ned or if Ned was raised by his grandparents, Alvah L French and Mary R Hoxie. This fact may never be known. Ned married Pearl Almeda Mayo August 27 1902. They raised 8 children, Leroy A,Dorothy G, George A, Roswell N, Mildred I,Carl L, Clair E, Lewis A. Pearle passed December 4 1937. Ned married Dorothy E Osgood August 6 1944. They had 7 children: Eugene N, Evelyn M, Neddine, Linda L died at 2 months of age, Dennis A died at birth, Donald A died at birth, Mary L. Ned worked hard during his life, he worked in the lumber camps walking into Pittston Farm on snow shoes "with snow deeper than a man is tall," (Ned's words) and across Moosehead Lake to cut logs with his crosscut saw and axe. His snow shoes still hang in his daughter's home (Neddine French Sanborn) Ned also worked as a farmer and worked at American Thread Company where wooden bobbins for thread were produced. In the spring of 1973 at the age of 93, Ned was found to have cancer of the bowels. The doctor told Ned that he could operate. Ned's reply "I'm 93 years old, no man has cut me and I guess you won't be the first." He made his own decision and his family stood by him. Ned lived comfortable until his death on May 5, 1974.
