Description	:	The body of Mrs. Charles H. Billings was brought here from Cherryvale, Kan. Tuesday for burial. She died at age 40 years, 4 months and 16 days at her home five miles northwest of Mound Valley, Kansas. Mrs. Billings was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Houghton of Waverly. Her death was due to pneumonia following an attack of influenza, and she was sick only a few days. Mrs. Billings was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Houghton of Waverly. Her death was due to pneumonia following an attack of influenza, and she was sick only a few days. Funeral arrangements had not been fully made at the time of going to press as word was being awaited from relatives at Waverly. The body was accompanied here by the husband, and from Waterloo by Mr. Billings' brother, E. L. Billings, of that city. The last referred to above will be better remembered by Waverly people as Miss Nieda Houghton, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Houghton of Waverly. She grew to womanhood in this city where she always had the respect and admiration of all who knew her, and her many friends are grieved to learn of her death. She was born Aug 1877 in Waverly, Bremer, Iowa. She married Nicholas Christensen in 1904 but divorced in 1906 (he died 1908). She married Charles in 1909 per the 1910 census of Malaga Eddy, NM. She died per your 1918 date. My family is the Mattasons, Mrs. Houghton's maiden name. At one time, Mrs. Billings acted as correspondent to the Carlsbad Current newspaper from Loving and Malaga. She was a good Christian woman and was loved by all her acquaintances. She leaves many friends who will sadly miss her, especially her Sunday school class of small pupils as she was always a faithful teacher and worker. She accepted Christ as her Saviour at age 15. She has gone to be with Jesus who doeth all things well. The body was shipped from Mound Valley after the service at the Baptist Church, to Nashua, Iowa for burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
