Description	:	Nehemiah Flaugher was born on May 8, 1839 to Samuel Flaugher and Elizabeth Ann Werner. He first married Nancy Ann Waldron, daughter of Gilbert Waldron and Elinore Livermore, on Aug. 10, 1861 in Mechanicsville, Iowa. She died in childbirth along with their infant daughter on Dec. 30, 1865 in Mechanicsville, Iowa. He then married Elizabeth E. Eagerty, daughter of Jeremiah and Mary Eagerty, on Jan. 15, 1868 in Mechanicsville, Iowa. They became the parents of Mary Ellen, John F. and Samuel Ralph. Nehemiah served as a Private in Company H, 35th Iowa Infantry, Civil War; served from August 9, 1862 to June 2, 1865. From the Mechanicsville, Iowa newspaper; Died at Dysart, Tama County, Iowa, March 15, 1881 of laryngitis, Nehamiah Flaugher, aged 41 years, 10 months and 7 days. The deceased was well and favorably known at this place having resided here prior to his enlistment in the Army which occurred in August 1862, as well as since the close of the war up to 2 years ago when he with his family and mother-in-law removed to their home in Tama county. Nehemiah, on Sunday afternoon feeling an unaccountable choking sensation, the doctor was sent for who pronounced the disease anything but dangerous. Mistaking the nature thereof, Monday he continued to grow worse and passed from this life at eventide on Tuesday after suffering but two days. The deceased enlisted in Company H, 35th regiment of Iowa volunteers, where he served with credit to himself and the cause he espoused. He leaves a wife, 3 children, father, mother, brothers and sisters to mourn his loss. Twenty three years ago he espoused the cause of his Redeemer and united himself with the Christian church in which he remained a faithful member unto the last. His remains were brought back here among his friends and old associates for internment which occurred on Sunday last. Owing to the severe storm of Saturday many of the relatives were unable to attend the last sad rites, though at this place where he was so highly esteemed all the other churches dispensed with their services on that day and made the one at the Baptist a union one in respect to his memory.
