A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Larkins will be held at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel on Tuesday, September 9, 1997, at 2 p.m. The Reverend Dr. John Y. Todd III of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Marshville City Cemetery in Marshville, NC. Mrs. Larkins was born on November 19, 1904 in Olive Branch, NC. Holmes Larkins, age 92, died on September 8, 1997 at Country Time Inn. Todd III of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Marshville City Cemetery in Marshville, NC. Mrs. Larkins was born on November 19, 1904 in Olive Branch, NC. She was the eldest daughter of the late William and Ella Holmes. She was married to William A. Larkins who preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Larkins was a resident of Charlotte until 1945 and resided in Miami, FL from 1945 until 1992 when she returned to Charlotte. Prior to her move to Miami in 1945, Mrs. Larkins was a Defense worker in a government facility in Charlotte. In Miami, Mrs. Larkins was an active member of the Northeast Women's Club and served as the club’s president for two years. At the time of her death, she resided at the Country Time Inn of Kings Mountain, NC. Survivors include son, Joe L. and wife JoAn Helms of Waco, NC; son, Alec and wife Marie Larkins of Fort Lauderdale, FL; grandson Joe L Helms II and wife Robin of Charlotte; grandson, James R Larkins of Sugarland, TX; grandson William Larkins of Clearwater FL; granddaughters, Tammy H. Settles and husband Russell of Charlotte and Carol H Sloop and husband. Steven of Irmo. SC; granddaughter, Rebecca Anderson of Miami, FL; great-grandsons, Brian Sloop of Irmo, SC and Jared and Connor Helms of Charlotte, NC; great-great-granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Sloop of Irmo, SC; sisters, Sarah Ross and Beatrice Hall of Mint Hill, NC and Georgia Beard of Savannah, GA. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1300 Baxter Street, Suite 101, Charlotte, NC 28204 or the American Cancer Society, 500 East Morehead Street, Suite 211, Charlotte, NC 28202. Family members of Mrs Larkins are invited to the home of Mrs. Sarah Ross and Mrs. Beatrice Hall after the burial service.
