After a week of intense suffering Mrs. Charles I. Fishel passed from this world into eternity at noon on Sunday Mrs. Fishel came to Fairplay something over a year ago, as Miss Nellie F. Hoey, and was united to her husband by the Rev. T. F. Cook, who also preached her funeral sermon. She quickly formed a circle of home friends that now deeply mourn her early departure from the scenes of life. All that careful attention and medical skill could do to ease her pain in the last hours was done, and every possible act of sympathy for the bereaved relatives was performed. The funeral services at the Presbyterian church on Monday afternoon were largely attended, and the funeral address of Mr. Cook was a feeling and appropriate address. A beautiful floral decoration was furnished for the pulpit by Mrs. Crook, and good music was given by the choir. An infant child was buried with its young mother. She was but twenty years of age. The Fairplay Flume, 13 Jan 1881: The remains of Mrs. Charles Fishel were exhumed from their resting place in the Fairplay cemetery on Monday and were taken east the same night. The destination to which Mr. Fishel will accompany the body is Clarence, Iowa, where it will be re-interred in the family burial place. Mr. Fishel will be absent about a month on his sad by dutiful errand.
