Landis was born in Steuben county, Indiana, January 9, 1863. She passed to her eternal reward December 11, 1933, at the age of 70 years. For many weeks she had battled against a life sapping disease, valiant, determined and hopeful. The toll was too great and the conflict too long. She fell asleep in the arms of the Infinite, a few minutes after six o"clock Monday morning December 11th. She was married to James Kinsley, December 4, 1881 at Ray, Indiana. To this union was born four daughters, Viena, who died when a child, Lily Fellman, both of whom preceded their mother in death, Mrs. E. M. Eaton of Silvis, Illinois, and Mrs. D. E. Carlson of Norfolk, Virginia. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Don, Winifred and Ed Eaton of Silvis, Ill., Ferold Fellman of Fort Dodge and Richard Carlson of Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Kinsley was a member of the Whiting Congregational church for almost forty-five years, coming into the church under the Rev. C. N. Lyman. She was an active member of the Missionary and Ladies Aid Societies, and was also a member of the Woman's Club and the Royal Neighbors of our town. Greater than her church and social activities was her high devotion to her home and family. She was a wife and mother first of all; a good woman, a faithful wife, a loving mother. What higher tribute can be paid to this dear mother. She will be missed in the church, the club and the lodge. She will be missed by the entire community in which she lived so long and served so faithfully. Funeral services were held in the Whiting Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon, December 13th, Rev. G. H. Croker, assisted by Rev. H. Albertson and Rev. George Dunn of Ida Grove, had charge of the services. Mrs. Chloe Beatty and Mrs. Eleanor Croker with Mrs. Ethel Miner at the piano rendered comfort in song. Burial was in Whiting cemetery. Among the numerous relatives who attended the funeral was a sister, Mrs. Eva, from Ohio. The Methodist church was crowded with loving friends who came to pay their last respects to a dear one whom they had loved and respected.
