Chaney of 1127 Lakeside Drive, died Sunday May 25, 2003, at the Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care after a brief illness. Mrs. Chaney was born in Union on March 20, 1934, a daughter of the late Jesse and Rose Howell Epps. She was former owner and operator of Chaney's Grocery Store and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Chaney was born in Union on March 20, 1934, a daughter of the late Jesse and Rose Howell Epps. She was former owner and operator of Chaney's Grocery Store and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Chaney of Union; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Robin Chaney of Union; three sisters, Ruby E. Malpass of Orangeburg, Bessie E. West and Eva Delle Stepp, both of Union; a brother, James Arthur Epps of Union; and a granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Hal Phillips of Gaffney. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Larry Patterson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jimbo Thomas, Toney Epps, Jimmy Stepp, Ronnie Small, Wayne Gordon and Sammy Smith. The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9. Memorials may be made to Covenant Baptist Church, 100 Medical Science Dr., Union, S.C. 29379.
