She died Saturday Nov. 29, 1997, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from complication of a stroke. The Rev. Carol Kress officiated at the service. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Nellie Garder Schauf was born July 14, 1910, in Troy Township near Williamsburg, the daughter of Edward V. and Margaret B. Story Gardner. She attended school at rural Troy Number Four and graduated from Williamsburg High School. She married Clifford R. Schauf Feb. 20, 1936 in Marengo. They lived an a farm near Williamsburg until moving to town in 1944. She worked at Holden's Seeds for a number of years, then worked as a custodian at St. Paul Methodist Church for 27 years. She was a 50-year member of St. Paul Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Women. Schauf is survived by one daughter, Nelda Andersen, and husband Nile, Marion; three grandchildren, Krista Andersen, Falls City, Neb.; Lisa Coffin, and husband Steve, Cedar Rapids, and Eric Andersen, and wife Sara, Marion; three great-grandchildren, Grant and Courtney Coffin and Sadie Andersen, and one sister-in-law, Nadine Gardner, Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1975; her parents and one brother, Lyall Garderner, in 1988.
