Description	:	Mrs. Nellie Hall Long, of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center, formerly of 117 Elm St., Yadkinville, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2005. She was born in Surry County to the late James Houston and Rosa Mendenhall Hall. Mrs. Long was co-owner of the "Tots and Teens Shop" in Yadkinville with her dear friend, Mrs. Bonnie Hinshaw, for 18 and one half years, retiring in 1974. She was born in Surry County to the late James Houston and Rosa Mendenhall Hall. Mrs. Long was co-owner of the "Tots and Teens Shop" in Yadkinville with her dear friend, Mrs. Bonnie Hinshaw, for 18 and one half years, retiring in 1974. She was an active member of Yadkinville United Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Long was the widow of Ralph V. Long; and was also preceded in death by her son, Harold J. Long; her sisters, Beulah Pardue and Pansy Oliver; half sisters Viola Johnson and Emma Hampton; brothers Ernest Hall, Richard Hall and Charlie Creed Hall; and half brothers, William Hall, Lester Hall, Kern Hall and Roby Hall. Surviving are her stepdaughter, Marie L. Brendle, and husband Clell, Statesville; her son, Grady R. Long, and wife Peggy of Jonesville; daughter-in-law Carolyn Long, Yadkinville; a grandson, Ralph Long, and wife Janie of Louisville, Ky.; two granddaughters, Susanne Spillman and husband Danny and Leah Hutchens and husband David, all of Yadkinville; stepgrandson Ralph Brendle and wife Elizabeth of Spartanburg, S.C.; five great-grandchildren, Josiah Long, Kayla and Zachary Hutchens and Matthew and Maggie Spillman; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Chad and wife Ann and Brad and Matthew Brendle; and a stepgreat-great-grandchild, Cora Ann Brendle. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Yadkinville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Scott Osterberg officiating. Mrs. Long will lie in state from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mitchell's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The Long family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 29, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Yadkinville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 25, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The Long family would like to express its appreciation and thanks to the staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center for the kindness shown to Mrs. Long and her family and also to the staff of Surry/Yadkin Hospice, especially Katrina McDowell and Christine Henderson for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Long.
