Description	:	Nellie Bogaard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dirk Hessing and wife of Arie H. Bogaard of this city passed away at 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning, August 31st 1940 at the age of 64 years and 7 months. Congestion in the region of the heart was the immediate cause of her death. She was born in Mahaska County on the 31st of January, 1876. Mrs. Bogaard was twice married. She lost her first husband, Tunis Ver Meer, when he was taken by death. Bogaard of this city passed away at 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning, August 31st 1940 at the age of 64 years and 7 months. Congestion in the region of the heart was the immediate cause of her death. She was born in Mahaska County on the 31st of January, 1876. Mrs. Bogaard was twice married. She lost her first husband, Tunis Ver Meer, when he was taken by death. Two children were born to them, Alida T. and Dick T. Ver Meer. Both survive their mother. On the 20th of March, 1926, she married Arie H. Bogaard. He survives her together with three sisters and one brother, namely: Mrs. G. J. Vander Wilt, Mrs. John F. Van Gorp, Mrs. A. T. Van Zante and Bessel Hessing, the latter of Otley. Many relatives and friends also mourn her passing. Mrs. Bogaard confessed her faith in Christ when she was 28 years of age and was a faithful member of the First Christian Reformed church from that time until her death. She was a member of the Helping Hand society and was always ready to do her part as a good neighbor and friend. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 3rd. A short service was held at the home and at 2:00 o'clock. Reverend John Vander Ploeg had charged of services at the First Christian Reformed Church.
