Description	:	Nellie was the eldest child of George & Eva (Martin) Hughes. She married Franz Hacker Jan 3, 1916. Franz and Nellie were the parents of Karl George Hacker (1/18/1917 - 1/07/1964); Louise Evelyn (Hacker) Carrington (7/30/1920 -7/2011 ); and Louie Edward Hacker (7/10/1924 - 1/25/2002) Franz died 3/09/1927 several weeks after a fall from a roof. Nellie never married again, and worked hard to support & raise her children. She had a domineering spirit, and was a treasure to her family, siblings, and many nieces and nephews. She was my Great-Aunt, and I have many happy memories of Nellie, I think of her often. - Wayne Bollin Sioux City, IA - Mrs. Franz Hacker, 85, 4306 Polk St., died Thursday at a local Sioux City hospital after a long illness. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvery Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kenneth Fischer and Vicar Ron Young will officiate. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mrs. Hacker, the former Nellie Hughes, was born Sept 14, 1894 in Red Cloud, NE. She was raised near Whiting, IA and lived in McCook Lake, SD from 1927 until 1942 when she came to Sioux City. Mrs. Hacker was employed as a seamstress. She was married March 1, 1916 at Onawa, IA. Mr. Hacker died in 1927 at Pierson, IA. She was a member of Calvery Lutheran Church. Survivors include one son, Louie of Lawton, IA; one daughter, Mrs. Everett (Louise) Carrington of Denver, CO; two brothers, Floyd of Westfield, IA and Milo of Merrill, IA; three sisters, Mrs Otto (Ruth) Meister of Pierson, IA, Mrs Carrie Reed of Portland, OR, and Mrs Delbert (Dorothy) Henshaw of Sioux City; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
