Nellie Josephine Lilja was born at Malmo, Sweden, July 4, 1850 and passed away at her home in Walnut, Iowa, on Tuesday, February 9, 1926, after an illness of several months duration; at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 5 days. The deceased came to the United States in 1871 and located at Sioux City, Iowa. In 1874 she came to Walnut, Iowa, and on July 5, 1876 was united in marriage to Aaron Engelman at Atlantic, Ia. Nellie Josephine Lilja was born at Malmo, Sweden, July 4, 1850 and passed away at her home in Walnut, Iowa, on Tuesday, February 9, 1926, after an illness of several months duration; at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 5 days. The deceased came to the United States in 1871 and located at Sioux City, Iowa. In 1874 she came to Walnut, Iowa, and on July 5, 1876 was united in marriage to Aaron Engelman at Atlantic, Ia. They moved to a farm eight miles south of Walnut and lived there until 1887, when they moved to town where they have since resided. At the age of fourteen years she was confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gartha Johnson and Miss Mary Engelman, both at home. Her husband preceded her in death on September 16, 1892. Funeral services will be held at her late home on Walnut street, at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Rev. Oliver Stevenson, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will officiate and the remains laid at rest beside her husband in the Walnut cemetery.
