Smith of this village, on Wednesday evening of this week, upon the occasion of the marriage of his daughter Nellie and Mr. George N. Scase of Albany, N. Y. The ceremonies were conducted by Rev. Dr. Goadby, assisted by Rev. J. A. Pierce. The usual congratulations were spiced with many a merry joke and laugh which flowed from the hearts of the cheerful company. The social enjoyment of the evening were enlivened by a surprise serenade of the Poultney Cornet Band, which gave splendid music, and was responded to by the bride and groom with a treat from the luxuries of the table. "Among the many presents we noticed were household articles of use and ornament, pieces of silver ware for table use, a beautiful gold watch by the groom, and a splendid silver castor from the choir of which she was a member. The pleasant social enjoyment of the evening, the bountiful repast of the well-filled tables to which the guests were invited, the sparking wit and flow of soul which cheered the occasion made it a time to be referred to with much pleasure. "Mr. and Mrs. Scase will remain in town to spend thanksgiving amidst the roast turkeys and good things of Vermont, after which will go to Albany."
